Unified EID Committee of New Jersey is sponsoring the largest community wide
celebration in its 30 year history, commemorating the Islamic holiday of
Eid-ul-Fitr, (a
rebirth, recurring happiness of our basic human nature) which takes place after
the 30 day fast of the month of Ramadan, by celebrating the theme One
Community, One Humanity—Sharing Our Lives in Harmony through Cultural
Enrichment. The celebration of ‘Eidul-Fitr exemplifies the
renewal of human excellence achieved by people of faith cooperating to establish
a comprehensive and universal, spiritual, social and cultural life. It
reminds us to acknowledge the G-d given potential in every human being to live
an individual and a community life that is expressive of the power in moral
consciousness and intellectual creativeness. With the confirmed support of
Governor Jon Corzine, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Irvington Mayor Wayne
Smith, Essex County Executive Joe Di Vincenzo, Senators
Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, Congressman Donald Payne, Republican Candidate
for Governor Chris Christie, the Newark Alliance, and many others, and your
help and sponsorship, we can make this a marvelous occasion for promoting good
will, peace, and friendship for people of all faiths and ethnic groups. Please spread the word to believers, family, friends, and co-workers about the celebration of our religious obligations.
